JOB TITLE: Senior QA Automation Engineer
REPORTS TO: Software Development Team Lead
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
The Senior QA Automation Engineer tests all aspects of all proprietary software, devising test cases from requirements, and creating, maintaining, and expanding the existing automated regression suites to support ongoing product development and software releases.
The Senior QA Automation Engineer uses industry best practices and experience with multiple automation test frameworks to build automation for products which lack any current form of automation, and reviews existing frameworks periodically to ensure the efficacy of the frameworks, and guides team members towards new approaches and improvements.
Periodically review test frameworks for efficacy, efficiency.
Devise new test frameworks for new products, or existing products which lack automated testing.
Review issues found from the field and internally to spot opportunities for new automated test cases.
Design automated tests to validate applications by creating scripts that run testing functions automatically in a variety of test frameworks, including, but not limited to, Eggplant, and Cucumber.
Determine priority for test scenarios and create execution plans to implement these scenarios.
Implement automation first strategy by maintaining, expanding, and improving existing automated testing framework.
Analyze bug reports and highlight problems to help identify fixes for them, delivering regular reports identifying these bugs to members of the corresponding development and QA teams.
Collaborate with development teams to triage and identify bugs and develop a comprehensive testing plan.
Remain informed and open-minded to new testing tools and test strategies and improve efficiency.
Perform manual exploratory testing for the general QA department when the need arises.
Four years software testing experience
Experience in at least two test frameworks, at least one of which must be a web testing platform. Selenium experience preferred. Cucumber experience strongly preferred.
Experience in Point-of-Sale applications strongly preferred.
Strong organizational skills
